Anti-Blight Summary
The ordinance sets a minimum standard for property maintenance so as to assure that properties within the city be maintained. It also creates a standard for quality of life in New Haven.
Violations of the Ordinance:
Violations of this ordinance shall result in a fine up to one hundred dollars ($100.00) or the maximum amount authorized by state statutes or this Code for each day that said violation continues.
Resolution of Issues
Upon the failure, neglect or refusal of any owner so notified to correct, remove or abate such violations which are dangerous to the public health, safety or welfare within ten (10) calendar days after receipt of the written notice, the City may cause such abatement by city staff or an independent contractor engaged by the city of such violation(s) at the expense of the owner of the premises where such violation(s) exist.
